Are some of the dynamics I am facing in my congregation unique to my church or part of a larger change in how we understand church? Sometimes, understanding national and global trends will help church professionals better understand their own congregation. This is a two-part class. The first session will focus on some of these national and global trends through the lens of church leaders and scholars who have been studying them for decades. The second session will give participants an opportunity to look at their own church through the lens of these trends.
Two online video-conferencing sessions using Zoom: Thursdays, March 2 and 23 at 1:00-2:30pm Eastern
There will be the opportunity to blog and discuss the ideas which emerge from this class through an online discussion platform, PowerSchool Learning (formerly Haiku). This in-between discussion opportunity is completely optional!
Michele Townsend Grove will lead this class. Michele has been a religious education professional since 1988 and has served as a Unitarian Universalist religious educator since 2006. She is currently immersed in her own education adventure as she studies for her Doctor of Ministry in a program called “Creative Ministry for Church Renewal in a Changing World.” Church transitions in the 21st century is a major focus in her studies. Michele enjoys teaching these seminars because the dialogue can be so rich, and the participants always bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table.
